Rest

Make it a pot

Some cups are better when they are not made alone.

A proper pause 15-20 minutes

Making someone a drink is one of the least complicated forms of care. It asks very little, particularly when you already know how they take it.

A pot changes the scale of the moment. There is enough for another cup, a little longer at the table and one more person if they are nearby. It works just as well when the second cup is your own.

The ritual

A pot of a tea you enjoy, with another cup if someone is nearby. When it is only you, the second serving stays warm for later. No occasion required.

Variations

After dinner, carried to the sofa, made for a friend who has called in or kept entirely for yourself.
