Rise

Start the morning with music

Let the first music of the day be something you chose

While it brews 5–7 minutes

The first few minutes of the day are often filled by default: an alarm, the news or whatever was left playing the night before. Choosing the music gives the morning the tone you want for the day.

The ritual

A familiar morning playlist plays while the kettle boils or as you get ready. The first track arrives before the inbox or the news does.

Variations

Play it from the beginning, put it on shuffle or make your own morning collection. Keep adding anything that sounds right at that hour.

The cue can stay familiar without the music becoming repetitive. Return to the same playlist and let a different track meet you each morning. Over time, the collection becomes associated with getting started.
